NECESSARY FROM THE ARTICLES OF WAR:
God,
the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him. Psalms.34:
7
To fear is not to be afraid of God and His Word, it is
to have respect for God and to be amazed at God and His Word by doing
what He says through His Word and His servants who preach the
Word.
Always read the entire section verse refers to. We
do not want to pick out verses
In the last chapter you
learned about the trinity of God, which includes God the Father, God.
The Son Jesus Christ and God the Holy Spirit.
You learned about
their origin, authorities and functions in spiritual warfare. The
victory has been won for us on the cross. Read the letter to the
Hebrews.
We do not even have to fight and fight evil
spirits or live as if we were at war. Many Christians think they will
win the war themselves they live as if in a war. They never have
peace, the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding.
There
are both evil and good spirit forces, the spirit world is more of a
reality than many Christians believe.
This chapter
continues the study of the good spirit forces. It explains the
origin,
WHAT IS AN ANGEL?
Angels are
ministering spirits sent by God to do His will:
Are they
not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who
shall be
heirs of salvation. (Hebrews 1:14)
The
title "angel" means messenger.
The origin of
angels
Angels were created by God:
Praise Him,
all His angels! Praise Him, all His hosts.
Let them praise
the name of the Lord; for He commanded, and they were created.
Psalm
148:2 and 5
For by him were all things created, that are
in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they
be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things
were created by him, and for him Colossians 1:16.
Read
John 1 Jesus the Word was with the beginning.
All the
angels were righteous and holy when they were first created. They
worshipped and
served the one true God. Later some angels
rebelled against God and lost their position as angels. They became
part of an evil force called "demons". These are the ones
who come with the evil spirits but are defeated by Jesus and cannot
touch us who are in Jesus. We can hear them. See their results but
they have no power over us. We are hidden in Jesus evil in Him and He
is in us.
There are now two kinds of angels:
Good
angels, which are the subject of this chapter, and evil angels
(demons), which will be discussed in Chapter 6 of this
course.
ORGANIZATION OF ANGELS
The good angels have
been organized by God in a specific order. The Bible does not reveal
the details of that order, but it does indicate such an
organization:
For by him all things were created, that are
in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they
be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things
were created by him, and for him Colossians 1:16; See also Ephesians
3:10
The organization of the invisible world is described
here in terms of thrones, dominions, principalities, and powers. We
do not have the details of this structure. You will learn later
how
Satan has imitated this organization in his own
structure of evil forces.
There are literally scores of
angels (Luke 2:13-15), apparently classified according to the tasks
they perform. These are the main classifications of
angels:
Messengers.
This class of angels is probably
the largest in number. It is these angels who compose the countless
group, visualized by Daniel (Daniel 7:10), that carry out God’s
will in Heaven and Earth. This is the group that usually concerns the
believer in terms of spiritual warfare. They interpret God’s will,
protect, give guidance, answer prayer, announce, warn, instruct, give
judgment, encourage, sustain, deliver, and intervene on behalf of
believers.
No, we do not worship angels or good or evil spirits,
we tell who they are and how they work, in fact an exposure of the
angels of evil spirits so that we do not fall for their false
teachings and false thoughts.
There is only one reference
to the selection of angels in I Timothy 5:21. No further information
is given about this group.
Cherubim:
This
classification of angels is first mentioned in Deuteronomy 3:24. They
are also mentioned as part of the Ark of the Covenant Exodus 25:18-2
). Ezekiel mentions these beings and describes them as having four
appearances; a lion's face, an ox's face, and a man's face Ezekiel
1:3-28; 10:22. This symbolism on the cherubim suggests that they are
the living creatures that surround God's throne in Revelation 4:6.
They appear to be the highest order of angels, God's
guardians.
Seraphim
This group is mentioned in Isaiah
6:2,6. Their position is above God's throne in contrast to the
position of the cherubim that surround His throne. The charge of
these angels seems to be
to lead heaven in the worship of
God
Living Creations:
This group of angels is
mentioned in Revelation 4:6,8; 5:6. This title presents these angels
as manifesting the fullness of divine life, whose main ministry seems
to be the worship of God.
INDIVIDUAL ANGELS
In
addition to theIn addition to the various classifications of angels,
there are some individual angels mentioned by name in the
Bible:
MICHAEL:
Michael the Archangel is mentioned by
name in Daniel 10:13,21; 12:1; Jude 9; and Revelation
12:7.
He is the only angel called an archangel. He is represented as having
command over an angelic army in Revelation 12:7 and is said to be the
prince of the people of Israel Daniel 10:13,21; 12:1.
GABRIEL:
The
meaning of his name is "mighty." He is mentioned in Daniel
8:16; 9:21; and in Luke 1:19,26. He is always used to deliver an
important message from God. It is Gabriel who interpreted the vision
to Daniel in 8:16; 9:21 and who announced the birth of John and Jesus
Luke 1:19,26.
SPECIAL GROUPS OF ANGELS:
The Bible
also mentions special groups of angels, which include:
Angels

THEIR ACTIVITY
Angels
are active in both heaven and earth. The source of their power is
both granted and directed by God Yahweh, the I Am. They have access
to the presence of God in heaven:
In heaven their angels
always behold the face of my Father who is in
Heaven. (Matthew
18:10)
They are also active on earth. This is evidenced by
the varied ministries and many appearances of angels to humans
recorded in the Bible.

ANGELS AND ANNUAL WARFARE
Messenger angels
are the group that usually concerns the believer in terms of
spiritual
warfare. They interpret God’s will, protect,
give guidance, answer prayer, announce, warn, instruct, give
judgment, encourage, sustain, deliver, and intervene on behalf of
believers in battle.
Many believers have not taken
advantage of the help available from angels because they have not
been taught about their function in spiritual warfare. They are
"ministering spirits" and can minister for you as well as
to you. You can ask God to send angels to help you battle. King David
did this. He prayed .
Let the Lord Godangel pursue them.
Let the angel of the Lord chase them Psalm 35:5-6
Read the
following Bible accounts of angels engaging in warfare against the
enemy:
2 Kings 19:35; 2 Chronicles 32:21; Isaiah 37:36;
Revelation 12:7.
IMPORTANT WARNINGS
Angels are
holy beings with important ministries on behalf of believers. They
are part of the spiritual forces of good as God’s Trinity. However,
the Bible does give some warnings about angels:
DO NOT
WORSHIP OR WORSHIP THEM:’
You must not worship
angels:
Let no one deceive you of your reward in voluntary
humility and worship of angels, intruding into the things which he
has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind. (Colossians
2:18)
And I John saw these things and heard them. And when
I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the
angel who showed me these things. Then he said to me, Behold, do not
do it; for I am your servant and of your
brothers the prophets
and of those who keep the words of this book: worship
God.
Revelation 22:8-9
A DIFFERENT GOSPEL
Some
people have claimed to see angels who gave them a "new
revelation" contrary to God's
written Word. Entire
religious movements are founded on such false revelations. The
Bible
warns:
But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any
other gospel to you
than what we have preached to you, let
him be accursed. (Galatians 1:8)
Do not listen to any man,
angel, or other being who would lead you contrary to
God's
Word. As you will learn later in this course, one of Satan’s main
strategies
is deception. The Bible warns:
And
no wonder; for Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of
light.
(II Corinthians 11:14)
DO NOT USE
ANGELS:
Read the story of Balaam in Numbers 22, a prophet
who acted in disobedience to God.
You will notice that he
opposed an angel of the Lord. When you disobey God,
the
angels can actually hinder you. You will fight a battle, but it will
not be warfare against the enemy. Be careful not to provoke the
angels of God. Ecclesiastes 5:1-6.

There is no biblical support that a believer can
command his angel to do whatever
he desires, but you can
ask God to send them on your behalf. Think about the struggle you are
facing, and then ask God to send his “ministering spirits” to
work in that situation.
Read Psalm 78:36,40 and
Ecclesiastes 5:6. Israel had a special angel who watched over them
until they provoked him in the wilderness. If God sends an angel to
help you and you provoke him by sin and unbelief, he must depart from
you. It is good to heed the warning in Exodus 23:20-22. You can also
entertain an angel and not pay attention to it. See Hebrews
13:2.
REMEMBER NEVER WORSHIP ANGELS THEY ARE JUN GOD THE
SERVANT SPIRITS AS WINDS THEY ARE SENT OUT.
AMEN
