CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST
One of the strongest truths the apostle Paul emphasizes is that he is crucified with Christ – dead, buried and raised with Christ. The reason why many Christians are still fighting a desperate battle to experience safety and security in salvation is probably because they have never grasped the truth mentioned in Galatians 2:19-20, among other things: I AM CRUCIFIED WITH CHRIST. I NO LONGER LIVE BY MYSELF, BUT CHRIST LIVES IN ME, AND MY LIFE HERE ON EARTH I LIVE IN FAITH IN THE SON OF GOD, WHO LOVED ME AND GAVE HIMSELF FOR ME.
No one can just proclaim that and say so, it is because it says so, it is something all Christians must accept in faith that it has happened, dead buried risen with Jesus Christ to the life of God's resurrection in Jesus Christ in the life of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus did not "just" die for our sins, however great. We died with him. The first part gives us forgiveness and boldness, the second part helps us to overcome the problems we have with the "old man".
Paul understood his participation in the completed work on the cross. It is not a question of feelings, but of faith in what Jesus did. The belief that we who have accepted Jesus as our Savior were included in all that happened to him in connection with his death and resurrection.
I am anxious that we will not really take full advantage of the new life God has given us in Christ until we come to an agreement with God that our crucifixion and death happened when Jesus went through all this.
First we must realize that from before the foundation of the world God decided to save, redeem, justify and sanctify those who would believe in Christ and his work of reconciliation. God saw us in Christ from the beginning. That is, sharers in all that Jesus went through and in all that he won for us on the cross. If it is difficult to understand, ask God to reveal it to you through the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10)
Ephesians 1:4: FOR BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD, GOD CHOSEN US IN HIM
TO STAND HOLY AND WITHOUT FAITH BEFORE HIS FACE IN LOVE.
You can't tolerate this with your mind, you can't say you are it if you don't die from everything, from yourself yes, from your own self-justification where you say you do your best to live cleanly and justly.
1.Peter 1:18-20:YOU KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT WITH PERISHABLE THINGS SUCH AS SILVER OR GOLD, YOU WERE REDEEMED FROM THE EMPTY LIFE YOU OBTAINED FROM YOUR FATHERS, BUT WITH THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF CHRIST AS OF A LAMB WITHOUT SPOT
AND SOUNDS; FOR THAT HE WAS DETERMINED BEFORE THE FOUNDATION OF THE WORLD,
BUT HE WAS FIRST REVEALED NOW AT THE END OF TIME FOR YOU,
Romans 6:6
WE KNOW THAT OUR OLD MAN HAS BEEN CRUCIFIED WITH HIM, THAT THE BODY WHICH IS UNDER SIN SHOULD BE DESTROYED,
SO WE ARE NO LONGER SLAVES TO SIN;
The belief that we were included in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection causes us to be convinced of what happened to us when we accepted Jesus. It follows from this that we – to the extent that we believe and understand that we are crucified with Christ – experience that the sinful nature is rendered powerless and no longer dominates our lives and our thoughts as before.
When we put our trust solely in Christ and what He did on the cross - and in nothing else - sin loses its dominion over us.
V 7 HE WHO IS DEAD IS RELEASED FROM SIN.
When a person dies, all demands on that person lose their effect, and the things by which that person was bound no longer have the same influence on that person.
If it was a slave, his master could no longer exploit him or force him to obey his master's commands.
The temptations that once caused this person to stumble and fall no longer have that effect when he is dead.
Sin loses its power over him who is crucified and dead with Christ. All this happens by faith in what Jesus did on the cross and our participation in it. This does not mean that we are not capable of sinning, but we are not dominated by the sinful nature as long as we count ourselves crucified with Christ and put our trust in Him alone.
2 Corinthians 5:14:
THI LOVE OF CHRIST COMPELS US BECAUSE WE HAVE CONCLUDED THAT WHEN ONE IS DEAD FOR ALL, THEY ARE ALL DEAD.
Again we meet this attitude: When Jesus died for us, then we died with him. So we have surrendered
CHRIST ON THE CROSS YOU CARRIED CREATION'S SIN AND WOE CHRIST YOU CARRIED FOR ME JUDGMENT AND CURSE.
Have you died on the cross with Jesus Christ dear friend, dead from yourself? Death from your self-righteousness, your religiosity, where you say, this and that Christian I don't want to be with because I know much better than all those others?
Are you dead from thinking against Jesus, against your pastor or pretend?
Search yourself to see if you are really dead. Crucified, buried with Jesus Christ and living in the life of the Holy Spirit of resurrection life?
Amen
