Revelation 2:4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.
The first supernatural encounter God gives believers is when Jesus becomes Lord and Savior in their lives. The moment we accept Jesus a first love ignites inside of us, and He becomes the most important person in our lives.
What is the first love?
It is the original love which God gave man when He created them, and this love manifests as the unquestionable love, fire and passion to tell the whole world about Jesus.
John 13:34-35
How do we know that we are in our first love?
Jesus is all that matters. He is number one priority.
Our only desire is to love, to serve and to obey Jesus regardless of what people think, and regardless of the circumstances.
Obeying the Lord becomes a daily choice and a daily priority in our lives.
John 15:7-8
Pick up the cross
We expect supernatural hunger, passion and love for Jesus
We discover that nothing satisfies more than loving and serving Jesus. We can pray for hours because our greatest desire is to spend time with God, to be filled with His love and to do His perfect will.
Luke 8:16-18
We want to tell the whole world about Jesus.
We tell everyone, family, friends, coworkers and even random people in the street about Jesus and what He has done for us.

Evidence that we have lost our first love
We lose interest in the things of God and do things mechanically instead with our heart.
Our hunger and desire for God is lost
Matthew 24:12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold,
This means that sin will cause our love to the Lord to grow cold to the point that we no longer feel hunger and passion for God.
We become insensitive to sin
Without our first love, we become numb to sin and begin to compromise principles. We might even be tempted to return to our old sinful and wicked lifestyle.
We become insensitive to the presence of God
We know that we have lost our first love when we lose the desire to praise and worship and become indifferent to God’s presence and the needs of others.
Why do we lose our first love?
We spend more time serving instead of spending time with God
Serving God and other people is a wonderful thing, but when that service replaces our intimate time with God, it is time to slow down and receive from Him. Otherwise we risk growing spiritually cold.
No prayer life
Our relationship with God is priority in our Christian walk. If we stop praying, we cut off the life of God in us.
How can we return to our first love!
Remember from whom we have fallen
Revelation 2:5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place
We should remember what we used to do, how empty we used to feel, and how god and merciful Jesus has been to us.
Repent
We need to recognize that we have lost our first love and that it is a sin. Then we must repent, and restore our relationship with God
Do the first work
Let us fall in love with Jesus all over again. This means going back to daily prayer, serving God and preaching the gospel.
Start all over again. Faith comes by hearing Romans 10:17, and after you have heard the word of faith again,
